Arranging Love is a documentary that follows Australian couples of Indian descent in the lead up to their respective marriages.
In this project, we let the delicacy of the subject
matter alongside the tender portrayals of love throughout the film to
influence our vision. The film's unique position between eastern and
western cultures and philosophies also gave us ample opportunity to
explore the visual space that these two worlds co-inhabit. Whilst the
cultures have seperate identities in their own right, the 20th century
has brought them crashing together. This documentary looks at the
jigsaw puzzle that has formed following these events, and tries to
understand how the 2nd generation lovers cope and deal with the
contradictory, yet somehow unifying sources of wisdom that surround
them on a daily basis. Somehow, we hope to have eloquently provided a
backdrop for such a theme with Bill Chen's distinctive vision of a
utopian society.
